The Next Director Award : Call for Entries - 4th March 2015

The Next Director Award is a brand new award set to unearth the best new directorial talent and promote it back to the industry.

Both the winner and shortlisted directors will get incredible exposure at international screenings and through the D&AD and YouTube platforms. And to top that, mentoring from top production companies – which, for the right candidate, could turn into on-shoot experience or representation.

Double Deadline: March 31st 2015 for films produced in 2014 April 30th 2015 for film produced in 2015 Although the festival has a non competitive profile, the audience may vote and a list of the 10 audience's favourite shorts will be announced. The event is also opened to other partnerships with different short film promoters resulting in different awards that are also announced during the closing ceremony.

We have partnered with the Personal Flotation Manufacturers Association (PFDMA) and the National Marine Manufacturers Association(NMMA) to bring you the Innovations in Life Jacket Design Competition which seeks alternatives to the traditional life jacket. Contestants are welcome to design a personal flotation device intended for the general community. Unconventional designs are encouraged and participants can submit either a theoretical design or a working prototype. The most recent winner is currently manufacturing and selling the life jacket design they submitted.

The London International Animation Festival proudly showcases the whole spectrum of creative animation, showing that animation is for everyone.

Founded in 2003, LIAF aims to dispel the popular misconception that animation is just cartoons for kids by screening the broadest possible range of intelligent, entertaining and provocative current films on offer from all around the world as well as retrospectives and specialised sessions from countries and animators who don’t normally elicit such attention.

Our annual 10-day Festival includes gala premieres, retrospectives, Q&A’s with filmmakers, workshops, audience voting, and the Best of the Festival screening. Since this year LIAF has become much more than an annual Festival – we are programming more events, tours, screenings and masterclasses all year-round to as many cities and countries that invite us.
